Metacomet Hiking Trail,
West Hartford Reservoire Section
The Metacomet Trail through this area has become a hotbed for mountain biking despite the ban. There could be as many as hundreds of mountain bikers use this area on a single weekend. It should also be noted that this is the most popular recreation area along the entire trail. It can be expected to see trail runners, day hikers, and families out for a walk populating the local trails and the Metacomet. Even though true solitude may be hard to find, the area is scenic and worth the visit.
The most quiet areas are between Hartford Reservoire No.6 and the Lookout Tower and the trail immediately to the north of the Lookout Tower. The Lookout Tower can become very crowded on a nice weekend.
