John J. Ratey, MD and Eric Hagerman wrote one of the most comprehensive descriptions of what happens in our brains while we exercise. With technical jargon and medical terminology, this was not an easy read, but would be perfect for anybody with the desire to learn more about the subject.

The authors use compelling new evidence from breakthrough research on neurogenisis (the growth of new brain cells) as the basis for their earth-shaking discoveries. They not only manage to explain that intense aerobic exercise greatly improves a variety of psychological problems, but they also explain in great detail how. The authors spin sharp evidence for treating ADHD, addictions, PTSD, anxiety, stress, Parkinson's Disease, self-esteem, and many other neurologic related disorders. There is also a ton of material that explains how exercise is absolutely essential to maximize the learning process. This is sure to be a catalyst for change within the medical community and for those wishing to self-help.

I highly recommend the book for those capable of understanding it's complex content.
