Hop River Bike Trail Hiking Map, Willimantic

Even though the official end of the trail is across the Willimantic River along the east bank, the effective end of the trail is at Kings Road. There is a bridge out at a place where the river is too deep to cross. A biker can take King Road to Flanders Road and then take the remainder half mail to the dangerous bridge crossing the Willimantic, but this is unnecessary . This last half mile has railroad ties marring the surface and the old railroad bridge has rotted ties that may give way. The railroad car area along the eastern bank of the Willimantic River is currently being demolished. This may be in preperation to complete the last leg of the trail.
