Mattabesett Hiking Trail East
Most of this trail is an interesting hike, but I recommend skipping the eastern trail head along the Connecticut River and beginning just east of Asylum Reservoir No. 1. The reason for this is the lack of scenic terrain and the unwelcoming presence of the power plant along the river. The remaining hike becomes rugged and quite entertaining until the junction with Saybrook RD (RT 154) at the Seven Falls parking area.
